Radionomy being sued.

Wow.  That is all I can say - Wow.  I just read this article about Radionomy being sued for not paying royalties.  Quite a few former Live365 broadcasters are members of a broadcaster FB group.  Many of those members have moved over to Radionomy and have reported their stations are  no longer playing or even showing as listed.
Radionomy also owns Shoutcast - the search engine many use to find online radio stations.  I just checked and it is saying down for maintenance.  At this point I have no idea if that is why it is down, or if Radionomy has shut it down until the lawsuit is resolved.
The only connection MHR  has with Shoutcast is we use it as a directory.  Radionomy has nothing to do with MHR (for a reason) so until we hear something from Stream licensing saying they are going out of business or the rates we pay for royalties are going up - a lot, you will be able to find us via Stream Licensing, this website and the Stream Licensing mobile app.

..  on a side note..  right now I am SO VERY THANKFUL we tried Radionomy out, did not like the platform, the non existent support and left.  I feel for the many many broadcasters who put so much time and energy into building a station there.  At least they do not have to worry about being sued as well.  Radionomy own the stations they built - so Radionomy will take the penalty and or fall for it

They have not paid royalties since 2014 - shame on them.

Actually, they don't own the stations, since they are created by individual users. The problem is that they provide the broadcasting service free, which makes them responsible for the royalties.

Florin,

I value your opinion but Radionomy does own the stations that are broadcast using their service. We did set up an account through them - but decided we did not like the fact that they could do what they wanted when they wanted with Mouse House Radio. In their eyes the person who creates the station with them is merely the "producer" - but they own it and will do with it what they choose. Once the "producer" uploads the content for the station it becomes the property of Radionomy which means they own it - and they pay the royalties. I am a part of a group of former LIVE365 stations owners - a great majority of which have moved to Radionomy. They went with them not because they like the platform - but because they simply could not afford to keep a station going on a traditional platform. Many are fighting very hard to get the recent changes that caused them to go to Radionomy in the first place reversed. I have yet to speak to anyone who actually likes having to use this company. I am sure there are some people out there - I just haven't' encountered them yet

If Radionomy has been proven guilty to a wrong doing that they must have done, then they deserve to be punished for breaking the rule. I believe that no one should go above the law and we need to pay for all the actions that we did. But if the accusations were all false, then the other party must pay for the damage that they've done. In my case, I always believe for the fairness and we must only cross the line if it's needed. If this is the case, one side has to pay for a wrong action.

Jennifer's,

I ran across your blog by simple accident. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions about this internet music thing, but I don't want to clutter your blog or anything, for question(s) that have nothing to really do with MHR. So, I provided my email address in your form. It says it's not displayed but I don't know if you are able to view it or not. Basically, I have a "friend who is a person of special interest in my life". The only hobby he has pretty much is running a radio station for music of the 40's - 70's with a little modern day mixed in and a specific liking of Doris Day (whom he actually has contact with personally - which in this day and age I think is cool that he can email her whenever and get real personal responses. He can actually - and does - send her a birthday card every year and he gets a real thank you in return). Anyway, he asks me for help. I am extremely computer savy, hardware, software and internet wise. It's just that running a station is out of my league, as I have no interest, and if I have no interest it's hard to help with. He is mixed into this radionomy thing and he says something about needing to have a set amount of listeners every so many days or hours or something and if he doesn't his station, that he spends hours a day on, just disappears. This has happened 5 times. They shut him (and all his work done) down and he fires up a new one from scratch. I feel for him. My opinion is that basically you have a bunch of self endulged, rich, snotty people who think they are super special (singers and record label owners) who think they are so high and mighty and wanna make 10 billion dollars after already making 9 billions (very lose figures). He does this as a hobby, and either cannot or will not pay the hundreds and hundreds of dollars a month that some places want to charge him for just playing music he legally has, without wanting to make a profit. So I was just trying to help him, ran across you and just wanted to Walmart few insightful questions.

Thanks ahead, for your time.
