The counts are in and Monday morning was the day and time most voted for with our listener request hour. Friday mornings were a close second so we will do a repeat then.
We will post a form listeners can fill out to place their request on the Home page of this website.. When requesting a track please be as specific as possible. For example - Fantasmic! We have that track from both Disneyland and Disney World. If you don't specify which park you want to hear it from we will have to guess. In a case like that we will more than likely side with Disney World since we are pretty sure that is the park most of our listeners frequent.
We will play up to two hours of requests - so make sure you get them in early. The earlier in the week you request a track, the better the chances are it will make the show.
Our first listener request show will begin Monday, March 7th at 9:30 am and will be repeated the following Friday at the same time.
Thanks so much for your input. We can't wait to see what you want to hear!
Our Listener Request day and time submissions have really picked up this week. As of now we have received 17 submissions. Monday mornings are in the lead with 5 votes followed closely by Friday mornings with 4 votes. Monday afternoon, Wednesday morning and Sunday night all have 2 votes each. Saturday night and Thursday afternoon trail with 1 vote each.
We will leave the voting open through Friday of this coming week (Friday Feb 27th). Then we will post a form on our main website page allowing submissions for listener requests.
Depending on the final votes and how close they are we may have 2 Listener Request "Hours" a week. They would both play the same tracks. This would allow one to (hopefully) hear at least one per week and not miss out. :) Also.. we are calling it an "hour" but we will try to accommodate all of the request for that week.
The time/s will be announced a day or two after the voting closes and the submission form opens.
If you haven't cast your vote on when you would like to hear a listener request hour please do so. If you have already cast your vote - THANKS!
To say we are a bit blow away by the amount of listeners we have had this week would be an understatement. Yesterday (Feb 3rd) we had nearly 500 total listening hours for that one day! While we love it and we are honored so many people want to listen in it is also scaring us - a lot!
Ya see we pay our royalties per listening hours and we are capped with our current plan at 4K hours for an entire MONTH. We reached an 8th of that on one day! While we an feasibly upgrade our plan so we can have a total of 7K listening hours it will cost us another 20.00 a month and if things go like they did yesterday - we will exceed that quickly.
So what do we do? Well... we have unfortunately had to set the server to bump off anyone that has been listening for 4 hours. This is to prevent people from tuning in and walking away. We want people to listen. We want people to enjoy - but we are begging everyone to not just tune in at work or at home and let your player go and go and go when no one is listening. We have had some people tune in for 13, 16 and even 18 hours. No one is sitting there listening for that long. Ya know that saying - "Time is Money"? Well for us - it really is. We hated having to set the cut/bump off time but financially we had to do it. If you are still listening please log right back on - restart that player and enjoy. If you know you will be walking away for any amount of time, please "turn off the lights" so to speak.
On a good note... new tracks were added today. We are always on the lookout for new or better tracks and today we scored! Here is the list...
- Splash Mountain Ride Through Audio
- Bay Lake Electric Water Pageant
- Dream Along With Mickey
- World of Color Theme Song
-World of Color Sound Track
- Paint The Night Parade Soundtrack
-Pie Toss - Toy Story Midway Mania
- Carousel of Progress - Current Version
- WDW Railroad Fantasyland to Main Street
- Announcements - WDW Monorail
Mixed feelings today. It is our first full day without Live365 and I am amazed, a bit concerned and also honestly, kinda sad about the number of listeners we have. When we moved the station we signed up for a plan that allowed a lot less listeners and total listening hours than we had with Live365. As of now we can have no more than 25 listeners at a time. We have maxed out at that number several times today. We can not have more than 4K total listening hours a month with the current pricing plan. The next plan is 7K. On live365 we averaged between 6-7K as our highest.
It would be dishonest to say I am not excited about more listeners. Of course I am. Who wouldn't be? No one starts a radio station not wanting it to be popular or heard. Yet there is still a sadness knowing why we have more - because some other stations had to close. If I could give turn back the clock. If I could hand back the new listeners and bring the other stations back I would. If I could make this country more internet radio friendly I would in a heartbeat. Other than asking all of you to please sign the petition - there isn't much I can do.
I also hate the thought of people trying to listen and not being able to get in. That is frustrating. I feel like Ian and I can not even listen because we are taking a spot from someone else! That's not right! Therefore we are going to watch our listening hours and total number of listeners very closely this week and maybe next as well to gauge how things go. We have a few ideas on how to free up some more money so we can expand the number of listeners we can have as well as total monthly listening hours. it would mean downsizing something else even more, giving up a bit of extras, but we are willing to do it. It would mean we go from 25 total listeners at a time to 50. From 4K total listening hours a month to 7K - but that is as much as we can possibly do. Beyond that is out of our means.
Please help us know what is going on with you - our listeners. Are you having a hard time listening? If so how many tries did it take before you could get in? What time of day did you have a hard time getting logged onto the station? What format are you listening through (directly from our website, shoutcast, stream licensing smart phone app or another way). Please bear with us while we try to get through these growing pains and move forward.
